why homeschool?

ACROSS AMERICA, TODAY, 56 MILLION STUDENTS ATTEND SCHOOLS WHERE GOD HAS BEEN PURPOSEFULLY DISSECTED FROM THE FOUNDATIONS OF LEARNING. THE YOUNGEST GENERATIONS HAVE BEEN INDOCTRINATED IN AN ACADEMIC SYSTEM THAT HAS PRODUCED THE FRUIT OF ANXIETY, DEPRESSION, SUICIDE IDEATION, DRUG ABUSE, YOUTH HOMICIDE, STDS, AND ATHEISM.

HOMESCHOOLING IS A SYSTEM OF FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP WHERE PARENTS TAKE ON THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EDUCATING THEIR CHILDREN AT HOME THROUGH A VARIETY OF METHODS AND SYSTEMS. FOR MOST CHRISTIAN FAMILIES, THIS MEANS PROVIDING A BIBLE-BASED EDUCATION CENTERED ON BOTH SPIRITUAL AND ACADEMIC FORMATION.

FREEDOM GENERATION IS BUILT ON A FOUNDATION THAT RESTORES CHRISTIANITY, THE CHURCH, AND THE FAMILY TO THE CENTER POINT OF ACADEMIA, REVERSING THE TREND OF NEGATIVE FRUIT IN THE YOUNGEST GENERATIONS.

Freedom Generation Primary Academics is designed to prepare students for the Grammar Level of Freedom Generation Academics. Students learn similar material to our Grammar Level, but without the pressure of formal grading. Classical subjects are taught with creative and hands-on methods.

Each class day begins with circle time, where we pray and focus our day on God, spend time talking about our highs and lows of the past week, and prepare for the day ahead. Our class studies Bible, language arts, science, history, math, Latin, and literature. Our curriculum has been chosen specifically to prepare students to enter the Grammar Level. Our class also enjoys time playing outside (when the weather allows).

* At-home work is posted for families to do during the week who are on a 2 Day Track.

Primary (k-2nd grade) Class Descriptions

Biblical Studies

The focus of our biblical studies at the Primary stage is on how God worked in and through the people of the Bible. Students will also be learning and memorizing key Bible verses.

Language Arts

In the tradition of classical education that attempts to leverage the connection between subjects to help students learn faster and better, we use an integrated approach to teaching phonics, reading, grammar, spelling, handwriting, and writing through Writing Road to Reading.

Literature and Composition

Students are introduced to age-appropriate historical fiction during class corresponding with the period of history being studied. Students are led in exercises that identify main ideas, plot, and description of characters and setting.

Arithmetic

During our time together, our focus is on arithmetic. We chant addition, subtraction, and multiplication math facts and sing skip counting patterns. We learn about time, currency, measurement, and mental math and play fun math games that sharpen our skills. We encourage families to use Horizons Math curriculum throughout the week.

Science

In our class, we cover the same general science subject as Grammar level students but through engaging, age-appropriate unit studies. Students learn through hands-on experiments and projects.

History

Primary classes learn about key moments in history within the time period being studied in the Grammar levels through immersing unit studies.

Latin

Our Primary 1 and 2 students are introduced to the Latin Language through the use of songs, stories, games and activities. We use Song School Latin program specifically designed for young students. This vocabulary-based program provides a foundation for Latin study that continues through the Grammar level.

Guided Study and Enrichment Day

Primary students have the opportunity to come take the 4 Day track to take part in a guided learning day where they can dive deeper into learned material and accomplish one or more days of assigned work under the guidance of a teacher, while also enjoying the opportunity for fellowship and comraderie. In addition to accomplishing class work, students enjoy physical education, strategic games, art, music, free reading time, and an unstructured time where students can pursue creativity: crafts, games, puzzles and such.

Grammar Levels (3rd-6th grades) Class Descriptions

The Grammar stage provides the foundation for future classical studies by building a framework of knowledge through each subject area (Art, Bible, Grammar, Latin, Literature, Science, World History). Questions of who, what, where, and when are the focus, and memorization is a key part of learning. At FGHE we give students context for what they're memorizing because it lays a strong foundation for future learning in the Logic level.

Latin

The study of the classical language, Latin, is the core of a classical education. In the Grammar stage, the emphasis is on the memorization of Latin grammar by the ancient method of oral recitation and form drills. Additionally, students learn to apply the grammar they are learning by doing weekly Latin readings where they see the grammar in context.

Biblical Studies

In this course, students move through the entire Bible during a four-year cycle. This class focuses on the people, events, and chronology of the Bible. Biblical study is enriched by an understanding of the history of the time. Special emphasis is placed on the memorization of key dates, people, facts, and Bible verses. In addition, older Grammar students will be introduced to basic theology and how to identify theological themes.

Grammar Levels (3rd-6th grades) Class Descriptions

Language Arts

Once a student reaches twelfth grade following a classical Christian education, he will be able to think logically and express himself well both on paper and through speech. The foundation of clear communication begins with a strong command of English grammar. The best curriculum we have found to build this strong foundation is Shurley Grammar. Because of the importance of English grammar in a classical Christian education, we require all students to follow the Shurley Grammar series through levels 3, 4, and 6. In our Applied Grammar class, we rely on a variety of resources to teach students to easily identify parts of speech, edit/proofread, build vocabulary, document sources, and take notes. Grammar Level students also work to master spelling rules through the Phonetic Zoo spelling curriculum. In addition, students in this class will engage in valuable exercises in fable (G1), narrative (G2-3), and chreia (G4), the first three stages of the progymnasmata. These progymnasmata exercises were developed by the ancient Greeks and are a valuable tool to help students become proficient, logical, and eloquent writers. Students will imitate excellent writing models, which allow them to create within a limited framework while paying close attention to the target language skills appropriate for their developmental level. In addition, during the last quarter of the year, students will spend time composing their own creative writing project.

Science

All Grammar level students learn the same science subject. Over four years the students cover Anatomy and Physiology, Astronomy and Botany, Zoology: Flying Creatures, Zoology: Marine Biology, and Zoology: Land Animals using Apologia science curriculum. Science classes include labs.

Omnibus

Our Grammar level Omnibus course is an integrated approach to teaching literature, composition, history, and geography and the arts. History is taught in chronological order, integrating biblically recorded history with events not recorded in Scripture. This helps our students know the relationship between what they study in history books and what they read in the Bible. Special emphasis is placed on the memorization of key dates, people, and facts. Geography songs and other tools are used to help students commit to memory the relevant geography. Students read purposefully chosen, high-quality historical fiction corresponding with the period of history being studied for each year. Using these texts as a source of inspiration, our students develop the basic skills of solid expository writing to include expository paragraphs, essays, and book reports. In addition, students are introduced to the art and music of the time period they are studying.

Guided Study and Enrichment Day

Grammar level students have the opportunity to take a 4 Day Trackand to take part in a guided learning day where students accomplish one or more days of assigned work under the guidance of a teacher, while also enjoying the opportunity for fellowship and comraderie. The study schedule covers history and geography, mathematics, science, biblical studies, grammar, Latin and literature, as well as a free reading time, a lunch break/recess, physical education, chess, art, and music.

The Logic stage builds upon the Grammar stage. The goal is to equip students with the critical thinking skills necessary to recognize sound arguments and ideas, and to detect and correct fallacious ones. This stage addresses the questions of how and why. Instructors focus on showing students how to ask the right questions and think through the implications of their ideas. Classroom time is spent on discussion and small group work, including the Socratic method (critical thinking questions) to help students refine their ideas.

Logic Level (7th-8th grades)Class Descriptions

Our Christian Studies

A classical approach to learning about God includes a study of biblical chronology (Grammar level), theology (Logic level) and apology (Rhetoric level). Building on their knowledge of biblical chronology, in this course, students learn to understand, explain, and scripturally support the basic doctrines of the Christian faith. Where applicable, students are introduced to divergent views that exist in orthodox Christianity and encouraged to discuss these with charity and grace, at all times relying on the Holy Scriptures as the ultimate source of authority. Students learn the importance of “catholicity” among the people of God, being able to appreciate the unity of the church in the past, present, and future.

Church History

Since the biblical understanding of history is the record of God working to redeem a people for His Son, it should be argued that all of history is church history and not a mere subset of secular history as is often supposed. Rather, seeing with the eyes of faith, the history of the Church drives the rest. The objective of this course is to help students catch a vision that is sorely lacking in our day: that the Church has an awe-inspiring history and a glorious and certain future.

Logic Level (7th-8th grades)Class Descriptions

Formal Logic and Critical Thinking

Logic and the disciplines of critical thinking and building a clear and well-supported argument teach students to think clearly and argue well. L1 students study Formal Logic, the science and art of reasoning well. L2 students study the process of critical thinking and argument building and learn how to apply it to all aspects of their lives.

Science

We teach students the fundamental principles of the scientific method and use the various disciplines within science as a way to practice thinking like scientists. L1 students take an Introductory Chemistry and Physics course and L2 students take an Intro to Biology course. Science classes include labs.

Logic Level (7th-8th grades)Class Descriptions

Omnibus History

Omnibus History is designed to introduce students to significant eras and events in world history. The course follows an alternating two-year schedule - Year 1: Ancient/Medieval and Year 2: Modern Era. Students are led through their studies with a focus on analyzing original sources and understanding the impact of ideas over the centuries. The instructor uses a combination of resources to help students develop into thoughtful and well-informed students of history. The Omnibus History course content is integrated with Omnibus Literature & Composition content to help students develop a comprehensive picture of each era of history.

Omnibus Literature & Composition

This course focuses on literary analysis of the key books for the historical period being studied. In addition to literary analysis, students create original pieces of writing which highlight their understanding of the texts. By the end of the Logic level, students are able to create expository, descriptive, narrative, and persuasive essays. Additionally, this course builds upon the foundation previously formed and challenges students in their next step of the progymnasmata. Students focus on refutation / confirmation and common topic. In doing so, students are better able to apply the tools learned in Formal Logic and Critical Thinking by examining how gifted writers from the past have used writing to construct solid arguments.

Sunset background

Logic Level (7th-8th grades)Class Descriptions

Latin I & II

The study of the classical language, Latin, is the core of a classical education; as a result, we require students to continue their study of Latin at the Logic level. Students must complete Latin I or II before they are able to take a different foreign language in the Logic and Rhetoric levels.

Intro to Spanish

The course is intended for L2 level students as a ground-level introduction to the Spanish language. It introduces basic vocabulary and grammar concepts that will be further developed in Spanish I through Advanced Spanish. Throughout the year, students learn the Spanish phonetic alphabet, learn and memorize essential vocabulary, and practice simple conversation using basic grammar concepts. After completing this class, students are well equipped for success in our Rhetoric Level Spanish coursework.

Guided Study and Enrichment Day

Logic level students have the opportunity to do a 4 Day Track and to take part in a guided learning day where students will be able to accomplish one or more days of assigned work under the guidance of a teacher, while also enjoying the opportunity for fellowship and camaraderie. In addition, students enjoy a lunch break, physical education, chess, art, and music.

The epicenter of a child’s formation is the family. The church, schools, and community exist to serve God and the family.

The founding ideals of the United States - freedom, equality, liberty, opportunity, and democracy are essential to teach, model, and preserve.

Working together advocating for virtuous education is critical for a flourishing society.

Statement of Belief

WHEREAS WE BELIEVE

There is only One true God, who is revealed in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is the Word (Logos) of God. The Word was with God in the beginning, which states his pre-existence as one with God. “By Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on the earth” (Colossians 1:16), therefore making Jesus the Creator. Jesus Christ is the Purpose of God found in all creation. He is the Father’s delight and desire, and the Father is looking for the reflection of His Son in all created things. Jesus is the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. In the beginning, it was the ultimate purpose of God for all things to be summed up in Christ (Ephesians 1:10). Jesus Christ, Who pre-existed with God in the form of God, emptied Himself to become fully a man that He might be the propitiatory sacrifice for the sins of mankind. Through His sacrifice made on the cross, all who believe in Him and His sacrifice have their sins forgiven and are restored to the fellowship with God lost by man’s transgression.

  • We believe the Bible is divinely inspired and inerrant through each page and is the supreme authority of foundational truths about mankind and God’s existence. That the Word is the final authority on all Spiritual and moral issues. (Matthew 4:4), (2 Peter1:20-21), (2 Timothy 1:21) & (2 Timothy 3:16-17)
  • We believe that freedom from the penalty and power of sin is available to man only through the sacrificial death and shed blood of Jesus Christ and His complete and bodily resurrection from the dead. (John 1:29), (Romans 5:1-2), (Hebrews 7:22-28), (1 Corinthians 15: 3-8 & 15-20).
  • We believe the Holy Spirit enables the sinner to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. (John 14:15-18, 25-27 & 16:5-15)
  • We believe the Holy Spirit lives and works in each believer to produce the fruits of righteousness. (Galatians 5:22-26) & (Ephesians 2:8-10)

We believe salvation is a gift received by faith alone in Christ, and is expressed in the individual’s repentance, recognition of death of Christ as full payment for sin, and acceptance of the risen Christ as Savior, Lord, and God. (Ephesians 2:8-10), (Romans 10:8-13) & (1 Peter 1:3-9)

  • We believe all things necessary for salvation are expressly set down in Scripture. (John 1:12 & 3:16) & (Romans 10:9-10)
  • We believe Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. (Isaiah 7:14 & 9:6) & (Matthew 1:18-25)
  • We believe Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and is currently seated at the right hand of God the Father, and shall return in person to this earth as Judge of the living and the dead. (Psalms 22), (Isaiah 52), (John 20), (Luke 24:50-53),( 1 Thessalonians 4:15-18), (Acts 1:9-11) & (2 Timothy 4:15-18)
  • We believe the only legitimate marriage sanctioned by God is the joining of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in scripture. God intends sexual intimacy to only occur between a man and a woman whom are married to each other, and has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside the marriage. Any form of sexual immorality, such as adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexual conduct, bestiality, incest, pornography and the such or nay attempt to change one’s gender, or disagreement with one’s biological gender is sinful and offensive to God. (Genesis 1:27-28), (Exodus 20:14 & 22:19), (Romans 1:18-32), (Matthew 5:32), (Hebrews 13:4), (1 Corinthians 6:9-10) , (Leviticus 18:22-23), (Deuteronomy 27:21) & (Malachi 2:15).
  • We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to one’s created identity as male or female to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking forgiveness and mercy through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 6:9-11). We do not believe that God promises freedom from temptation in these areas, but that He provides the power to resist the temptation. (1 Corinthians 10:13).
  • We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity. (Matthew 5:43-48)
  • We believe ALL human life is sacred and begins at conception (defined as the moment of fertilization). The unborn child is a living human being, created in the image of God, and must be respected and protected both before and after birth. The abortion of an unborn child or the active taking of human life through euthanasia constitutes a violation of the sanctity of human life, and is a crime against God and man. (Genesis 25:21), (Jeremiah 1:5), (Psalm 127:3-5), (Luke 1:31-35), ( Exodus 20:13).

“As a pastor's wife and mom it is my duty to educate my children from a Biblical worldview in an environment that values structure, honors medical freedoms and teaches our Constitution.

Freedom Generation Higher Education was founded as an alternative for like-minded parents as myself looking to break away from a broken school system.

We must teach, equip and prepare our children from a Biblical worldview so that they are able to proclaim their faith boldly and stand up against the thoughts and ideas of this world.

Nothing is of greater importance!”

“As a Pastor and Father, it is imperative for me to see my children raised on biblical principles, and our American Constitutional values. And protected from the needless and endless manmade mandates that our current Administration is pushing.

My children need to know that our Country was founded on Biblical principles and that what is going on now is the byproduct of “Leftist” ideologies which hate America, and their greed for money and power has driven them to not care about the future of this great Country and its’ next generation. If we are unable to step in and help our youth, the youth of our next generation will never know the true value of Liberty and what it means to be a part of this once great Country.

Therefore, my desire is to be a blessing and leave a legacy, that there is a God in heaven who cares for the next generation.”

“Today we’re lacking the passion of aspirating and encouraging the next generation to impact the world around them positively. It is important to give our youth the values, dreams and hope for their future. We must give them the challenges and courage to succeed in their lives so that they can achieve their goals and endeavors for a better community and world. This is why I believe in educating and pouring into our youth, for without it, we will step backwards in history and loose out of the potential and greatness that we should be.”

“I am resolute in the conviction that God's principles should be the guiding force in all facets of our lives. In a society where social media-driven secularism frequently holds sway, I am dedicated to maintaining unwavering faith, steadfastly rejecting ideologies that diminish the significance of God's power. As an educator, I prioritize placing God at the core of my family and instilling this fundamental truth in the upcoming generation. To me, it is unequivocal: God takes precedence in all aspects, molding my values, choices, and commitments.”

“As a Ministry Leader, Educator and a Single Mother – I believe in the name of Jesus, that public education is NOT the way. What we do here at Freedom Generation is a fruit of Classical Education. I am blessed to be a part of our students' education here incorporating Biblical TRUTHS as God intended. In our community and in leadership, I stand for truth in the public square AND in education by teaching what our values should be as Christians.

We are called to know God and to make Him known, to support life and that all life is precious and should be protected, that males and females were created in the image of GOD and that it cannot be changed, that we should have morals and be honest and repentant.

While the left pours in atrocities that target our children, families and Christians – I get to be that LIGHT as a part of Freedom Generation, an educational center that pours in the complete opposite of the junk in Charter and Public Schools which don't even allow you to MENTION JESUS.

As a mother, a single mother at that, I witness daily what is going on in our community and I KNOW that that is NOT what I want for my own child and Gods children. It is a BLESSING that I can make a change in each child’s life that God has entrusted me to.

My role lets me come alongside parents in their children’s educational journey, and support them with love and truth. While the darkness is running rampant in the world, we are a LIGHT in that darkness.”

“What a privilege it is to be apart of this astonishing team. There is no doubt that our children are a gift from the Lord. God has hand-picked us to be living in such a time as this. With that belief in mind, my goal and purpose is to instill the firm foundation we hold as true into our next generation! Specializing in English/Language Arts studies, I know it to be true that words and language are of utter importance to God as His Holy Word states in John 1:1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Continuing to John 1:14 "and the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us."

How perfect is it that the Word, who is Jesus, has such a connection to our language. God's word is ACTIVE and was given to us to bless us and teach us. Furthermore, the thorough and rigorous study of the English language that we provide at Freedom Generation is vital to the understanding of His Word. With a continued focus in Latin, memorization, proper reading and writing techniques, elocution and more.

I strive to help students cherish their words and appreciate great writing! I embrace my work at Freedom Generation as an eternal investment and my heart overflows with love as I follow God's calling in teaching.”
